@Jackson, I’m disappointed in your reply to Emily Anuhea. Please read article dated April 16, 2024, about the current removal of the Ha‘ikū Stairs, aka Stairway To Heaven. Each rescue costs $10k to $20k, which I pay for through my state income taxes. “Between January 2022 and February 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department said it responded to five rescue situations on the Ha‘ikū Stairs. Honolulu-based KHON2 reported in October 2022 that the fire department had rescued 118 people on the stairs over the last 12 years.” Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/04/16/hawaii-haiku-stairs-removal/

I calculated on the low end of costs to be 118 people x $10,000 = $1,180,000. Yes, that’s over one million dollars. This actual cost has nothing to do with liability costs or rich people rules, it is the real cost to rescue 118 people over 12 years.

Hi – sounds amazing but now for reality – when you arrive you are greeted with way overcrowded airport- locals don’t go to Waikiki and for good reason- way overpriced and 700000+ people on 2-5 mile strip of land with 200+ hotels that demand you got 20-50 minute wait for food, people in your way everywhere – 5-7 lanes traffic each way if want take the risk to drive- 11 people killed on the h2 while I was there in Aug 2023 in 9 days. Save your money for that expensive flight if you want people scenery and just stay in down town Manhattan or la – just as annoying

Even local guides will tell u the islands were nice 30+ yrs ago before corporation night up most of land and turned it from tranquility to greed hungry Asian dominated culture

Pictures are as nice as you get as reality is you can’t take pictures with strangers being in your shots

4 engine keys on take off are 2500 ft above your heads in Waikiki and you can see them but u can’t hear them- that’s how tranquil it is

i think you should warn people that some of these suggestions are quite dangerous. example jumping into the water at China Walls. My parents live near there and hear ambulances going by nearly every day from people needing to be rescued. Once you get in, it’s sometimes hard to get out and people do die there even experienced surfers as the waves crash toward the rocks.
