WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Yes, we know, it's a long name! But each part of Lydia's name has significance. Her first middle name, Takara, (pronounced tuh-car-uh) is actually a Japanese name meaning "treasure". Together, Lydia Takara means "beautiful treasure". We chose this name in response to a verse which we believe is God's heart for the children of China:

Isaiah 45:3-- "I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."

However, it was also important to us that Lydia maintain part of her Chinese name. "Fu" is actually her Chinese last name so we chose to combine her first and middle Chinese names to create a second middle name of "AiJian". "Ai" means "love" and "Jian" means "strength".

Proverbs 22:1a-- "A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches."
